Table Talk: A New DWP Podcast

by | published Tuesday, September 6, 2022

What with personal matters consuming our time and energy this summer, things have been very quiet at the DWP except for occasional social media bursts around GenCon etc.

So it gives us great pleasure to announce the birth of a new DWP podcast: Table Talk. One of the hosts, Alice C, has been a DWP contributor for about a year; the other, Taylor G, is new in town so please give her a warm welcome.

I was a bit confused at first when Alice told me the first episode would be about “box liners”. Could you really get 24-odd minutes out of discussing the thickness and sturdiness of game boxes? (GMT, for the record, sets the standard for the hardiest boxes around.)

But no, I was just not privy to a bit of Midwestern slang: apparently “box liners” are what we here in Ontario call “inserts”. So I learned something new already.

Anyway, Alice and Taylor are fun, energetic, passionate, and all-around adorbs, so enough of my yakking, on with the show! Check it out here on YT and here on Buzzsprout–and once it propagates you can find’em on iTunes and other podcastin’ platforms.

I’m just proud to know’em. Enjoy!

  • Alice C

Alice Connor has been playing board games since she could walk, and wondering about why they're so compelling since the day after that. She wrote a book called _How to Human: An Incomplete Manual for Living in a Messed-Up World_. Alice is also a certified enneagram teacher and a stellar pie-maker. She lives for challenging conversations and has a high tolerance for awkwardness. She lives in Cincinnati with her husband, two kids, a dog, and no cats.

  • Taylor G.

Taylor learned to love board games when she was a wee youngster. Logic puzzles and strategy games make her feel all the good feels, so she just keeps playing! You won’t find Taylor out and about without at least one game in tow (ask her about her love for big games that come in pocket sizes!). She spends a fair amount of time on 8 wheels rolling in her skates at the park, while also finding spare moments for reading, sewing, knitting, cooking, and staring at her plants. Taylor lives in Cincinnati with her loving partner.
